Early Swan (Mabie Todd) SF1 Self Filling Fountain Pen with Solid Gold Overlay.
Description.
This is a super early example of the Swan SF1 Self Filling Fountain pen. It is finished in Chased Black Hard Rubber and is in very good condition throughout.
There is a solid gold overlay fitted to the barrel, it is marked 9ct twice, there is also an engraving on the overlay, "B.F"
In addition, the pen is fitted with a solid gold pocket clip, this is also marked 9ct and has the makers mark of Prouds Ltd. The pen is supplied in its original Prouds Box. Prouds were based in Sydney, Australia.
The pen dates from around 1920 and it is fitted with a splendid No.1 nib which is a medium with a nice amount of flex. It writes with a smooth line.
Overall the pen is in excellent, near mint, condition.
Condition: Grade A (What does this mean).
