This is a splendid and rare example of this desirable fountain pen from Wahl Eversharp. This is the Doric Gold Seal Fountain Pen made around 1937.
The Doric had a number of unique features that makes it stand out from the crowd of other pens from the same era.
Firstly, the barrel and cap, rather than being round, were made up of a multi faceted design that was expensive and difficult to produce but it was unique and gave the company a great deal of credibility at the time.

Secondly the pen was fitted with a unique shut-off valve that prevented flow of ink to the nib when the cap was replaced.
The pen was also fitted with a slider on the nib which allowed the user to adjust the flexibility to suit their writing style.
Finally the pen utilised the piston filling system similar to the Onoto pens from Thomas de la Rue, these filling systems added complexity but they worked well and gave the pen a large capacity for ink.
This pen is in excellent condition and has been fully and professionally restored. the nib is a fine but it writes with a beautiful smooth action and the flexibility can be adjusted.
The cap and barrel are finished in Black plastic and the clip, cap ring and gold seal are gold filled.
