This is a very early Fountain Pen from the Eagle Pencil Company of New York, USA. It is marked with a patent date of April 23, 1890 and it probably dates from somewhere around 1895.
The cap and barrel are made from nickel plated steel in a barley twist design. The plating is solid and there are no dings, dents or deep scratches.
The filling mechanism is via a glass vial which sits inside the barrel. The vial is completely intact which is quite rare, there are no chips around the top of the vial whiach, again, is quite rare.
The nib is steel and is a fine with lots of flex.
This pen should not be bought because of its writing capability which to be fair, is quite crude. However it has a great deal of interest to collectors of early fountain pens and is a very nice example in good condition.
The pen is priced to reflect the condition.
Condition: Grade B (What does this mean).
