Description;

This is a very large and beautiful fountain pen. It was made in Japan around 1940.

The pen is a handmade Ban-ei finished in the beautiful Red Urushi which is made up of many layers of lacquer built up over time to produce a stunning deep finish.

These pens are made using red ebonite as base, then they are hand finished with red Urushi lacquer multiple times and burnished repeately. This pen is a Japanese style eyedropper filler. The pen wil be supplied with an eye dropper syringe.

The pen is fitted with a 14ct Medium Nib.

The pen is in very good condition, the lacquer is faultless but there is wear to the gold plate on the clip and cap ring.

Modern Ban-ei eyedropers are relatively common but vintage pens like this model are incredibly rare to find in this condition.
